Hater Blockers: Defined

Hater Blockers are a style of large, dark, wrap-around sunglasses worn during the day, at night, or in a dance club in order to not be seen or recognized by people that dislike you. People who wear Hater Blockers strive to “block” out “haters”, hoping that while walking through a club at night wearing their over-sized dark sunglasses will make them unrecognizable to people that are not very fond of them. A Hater is a person who enjoys humiliating someone else because they are jealous of them or they dislike them; if another person succeeds, a hater tries to find a way to point out flaws in them so that the other person won’t get as much attention or praise from others. One who wears Hater Blockers believes that these sunglasses will act as a disguise and remove them from the “hater’s” line of vision.

Hater Blockers are much like regular sunglasses, only they are usually larger and darker. Just like normal sunglasses block out sunlight and brightness, Hater Blockers block out unwanted arguments. They can come in different styles and brands, including Christian Dior, Gucci, Armani, and Prada. Hater Blockers can be very expensive, costing up to $275 if one wants to stay classy and sport the designer style.

A person might choose to wear their Hater Blockers if they have a lot of enemies, if they desire to hide from the rest of the world, or if they just plain feel like it. If a person is going to a public place where he might run into an old friend he doesn’t feel like talking to, or a person that he is not on good terms with, he might want to grab his hater blockers before walking out the door. The varieties of scenarios in which people wear their hater blockers are endless.
Artist Papoose has a song titled
Fitted Hat which states,
"I got my fitted hat low, block em out (Block 'em out)
I got my hater blockers on, block em out (Block 'em out)
I got my fitted hat low, block em out (Block 'em out)
I got my hater blockers on, block em out (Block 'em out)
I got my fitted hat on my face (My face)
Why you all up in my space (My space)
I don't want these haters all in my grill so I cop me some brand new shades (New shades)"
These lyrics explain the term Hater Blockers and the reason why one would wear them ("I don't want these haters all in my grill").
Synonyms for Hater Blockers include but are not limited to: sunglasses, shades, stunna-shades, and hata-blockas.
